A 23-year-old man drug user has admitted possessing £1,126-worth of cannabis.

Bryan Wai Kin Nam Trong Nguyen was caught with 56.3 grams of the drug on July 27.

Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police were performing vehicle checks on UK-registered vehicles at the Grandstand when they stopped Nguyen while he was driving a white Mercedes.

A smell of cannabis was emanating from the car and a search found the drug.

When interviewed Nguyen, who lives in Christian Road, Douglas, said that the cannabis was all for personal use as he said he bought it in bulk due to being a heavy user.

He said he had bought it for £500.

The court heard that he has other matters and is due to appear in court in relation to those on October 15.

Defence advocate Ian Kermode asked that the cannabis matter be adjourned to that date also.

Bail continues in the sum of £500.
