Tram services on the Manx Electric Railway were disrupted for a short time after a car came off the road and onto the tracks at Port Jack.

Services to and from Derby Castle were stopped and passengers taken off and put onto the tram on the other side of the blockage.

Police managed to drive the small hatchback car off the tracks. No one was injured.

The incident happened at just after 5.30pm on Monday and the track was blocked for about half an hour.

Director of public transport Ian Longworth said: ’Whilst the tracks were blocked the trams met either side and swapped passengers and crew. It only affected one arrival/departure.’
