Castle Rushen High School experienced a bomb threat yesterday evening.

At around 4pm, an unknown person phoned the school and said that a bomb was on the premises.

According to police, most pupils had left the school at this time and a very small number of pupils and staff left were evacuated to a safe location.

Police conducted an investigation and a person was ‘very quickly’ identified as having made the hoax call.

A statement from the constabulary said: ‘That person, who is local to the island, has been spoken to by officers and will be dealt with appropriately.

‘We would like to thank education staff for their help during this incident.’

The school is open as normal this morning.
