A fund to help grieving families meet the cost of a child’s funeral is to be set up in the Isle of Man.

Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan told Tynwald last week: ’I shall be bringing legislation to this court in the autumn, which will provide for a children’s funeral fund to be introduced in the Isle of Man very similar to that which will come into effect in England.’

Mr Cannan was responding to Daphne Caine (Garff), who had asked what consideration had been given to such a fund to assist bereaved parents.
