A married cleaner at a care home has admitted indecently assaulting a teenage work colleague.

Edmondo Cataroja Mamis, aged 58, of Balleigh Park, Ramsey, pleaded guilty to three charges of indecent assault and will be sentenced on May 23.

Mamis admitted grabbing the teenager.

Prosecutor Michael Jelski told the court how Mamis had first approached his victim in a cleaning storeroom at the care home.

He asked her if he could kiss her.

She did not reply and moved away but Mamis was said to have kissed her and started sucking on her bottom lip.

He told her: ’You have beautiful eyes and kissable lips’, before leaving.

On another occasion, Mamis put his hands on the teenager’s shoulders and stomach and moved her into an empty lounge.

Once there he put his hands on her.

She moved away and tried to go to a nearby lift but Mamis followed her asking her unrelated questions and tried to stop the lift.

On a third occasion, the youngster was said to have been putting clothes away when Mamis again put his hands on her indecently.

This time he got down on his knees and put his face towards her. Mamis told her: ’That was lovely,’ before leaving the room.

The teenager was said to have been so upset by Mamis’ latest assault that she locked herself in a bathroom and phoned her mother.

Mamis was subsequently arrested at his home and admitted that he had kissed and touched the girl.

However, he was said to have changed his version of events several times when speaking to police.

He admitted in police interview that he understood it was not appropriate behaviour.

He said that he was a married man but that he had been attracted to the teenager.

The court heard that Mamis has no previous convictions.

Mr Jelski said that the case was borderline when it came to deciding if it should go to the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

The prosecutor said: ’There were three indecent assaults.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes accepted jurisdiction and Mamis will be sentenced after the preparation of a probation report.

Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions that Mamis not contact his victim and not enter the care home.
