Douglas Coastguard and their counterparts in the UK had to use a pitch-and-put golf course to evacuate a patient this morning.
The Coastguard and the ambulance service moved the transfer from Noble’s Hospital to Onchan Park.
A statement said: ’At 4.30am this morning Douglas Coastguards were called to man the landing site at Noble’s Hospital for an incoming Helicopter Rescue 936,to assist with a medical transfer out of the island, due to poor visibility Rescue 936 decided they were not coming to our location and landed at a site of their choice in Onchan.
’Douglas Coastguard and the ambulance then transferred to the new location and secured the area for the safe transfer of the patient, the transfer was successfully completed and 936 departed for England,we were then able to depart, all equipment was ready again and the team stood down for 6.30am.’
