Earlier today Fire crews from Ramsey and Laxey responded to a report of a fire at a property at The Crescent West, Ramsey.

The occupants of the property were outside when crews arrived having been called out at 2.50pm.

When fire fighters entered the property, it was found that the fire was confined to an oil-fired boiler inside the garage and was extinguished using a high pressure hose-reel.

Crews checked surrounding areas for hot spots using a thermal imaging camera then ventilated the smoke logged property using a ventilation fan and remained in attendance for approximately one hour.

A fire service spokesman said: ’Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out.’
