A 43-year-old man has been charged with two counts of conduct amounting to harassment.

Andrew Fenton, of Cronk Grianagh, Strang, appeared via video link from police headquarters.

Mr Fenton is accused of posting numerous Facebook messages accusing men of being part of a paedophile ring.

It was said that four men had been arrested and interviewed in relation to the accusations but had been released without charge.

Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain described Mr Fenton’s accusations as ’spurious’.

Mr Fenton has also been previously charged with a similar offence in December 2019 when he entered a not guilty plea and a trial was due to be held in August.

However, that trial was postponed while the new allegations were investigated.

A pre-trial review will now be held on October 13.

Bail was granted with a condition that Mr Fenton does not use Facebook or any other form of social media or instruct anyone to do so on his behalf.
