A Douglas teen who threatened to smash his ex-girlfriend’s windows with a baseball bat has appeared in court.
We previously reported how Kyle Reece Wright, 18, of Rosemount, admitted threatening to damaging property, provoking behaviour, common assault, and possession of an offensive weapon.
A basis of plea was entered. Wright disputes kicking his ex-girlfriend four times, saying it was only once and he denies spitting at her.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said the difference in accounts would make a material difference to Wright’s sentence. A Newton Hearing will be held on February 11 to settle the disputed facts.
The prosecution allege that on December 20 at 8.55pm, Wright’s ex-girlfriend received text messages from him saying: ’I’ll do your windows’.
He then went to her address in Cushag Road and the pair argued outside. Wright was holding a baseball bat wrapped in a plastic bag and told his ex: ’Watch me, watch what happens.’
The woman’s mother came out to check on her after hearing shouting and Wright made threats to smash windows. The mother went back inside. Wright was said to have spat at his ex and lunged at her before waving the bat. The woman tried to run away but Wright was said to have kicked her four times on the calf.
Wright was remanded.
