Ryan Anthony Pope, of Sprucewood View, admitted the offence which took place at Quids Inn on Loch Promenade and was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
Prosecutor James Robinson told the court how, on June 25 at 9.45pm, Pope was in Quids Inn drinking when he was said to have leant over the bar, turned on a tap and taken a drink from it.
He was asked to leave by staff and the incident was caught on CCTV.
However, Pope questioned why he was being asked to leave and refused, saying that he had worked as a doorman and knew the rules.
As police arrived but the court heard that Pope then left the pub and he was subsequently was arrested.
When interviewed he told police that he had not actually drunk from the tap and had only mimicked doing so.
Defence advocate Peter Taylor said: 'He has accepted what he did in not leaving, after what he thought was a laugh.
’One member of the bar staff told him to behave but the licensee told him to leave.
’But as he said, working on doors, he should have walked away.
’He wishes to apologise for his behaviour and realises these offences can have an impact on his future prospects.’
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said: ’You are a doorman. You know you should have left without arguing.
'Nonetheless, you refused to leave for whatever reason, I suspect alcohol had something to do with it.’
