A 51-year-old Douglas man has admitted drink-driving.
Trevor Michael Brian Latimer, of Alder Road, failed a breathalyser test with a reading of 51. The legal limit is 35.
He will be sentenced on November 12 after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that police saw Latimer driving a Citroen Berlingo in Douglas on September 15 at 2am.
He was said to be driving erratically, swerving in the road, and was subsequently stopped at Ballaquayle Road.
Latimer described by police as smelling of alcohol, slurring his words, and having bloodshot eyes.
After failing a roadside breathalyser test he was taken to police headquarters where he failed a further test with the reading of 51.
Defence advocate Jane Gray asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing after it was said that Latimer has a number of previous convictions.
Magistrates ordered that the report consider all options, including custody.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions.
