A 29-year-old Douglas man has been fined £500 for two driving offences by Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.
Caleb Robert Sheridan, of Glen Falcon Road, admitted driving without a licence and having no insurance.
Sheridan was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs and had his licence endorsed with six penalty points.
Prosecutor James Robinson told the court how, April 4, police saw Sheridan driving a Honda CRV on Glencrutchery Road towards Bray Hill.
He was stopped in the McDonald’s car park on Peel Road and his driving licence was found to have expired.
Sheridan was ordered to produce his documents at a police station.
However, when he did, he could produce only an expired provisional driving licence.
He produced insurance documents but these were said to have been invalidated by him not having a valid driving licence.
The court heard that Sheridan had two penalty points on his licence previously.
Defence advocate Peter Taylor said that in 2014 Sheridan held a full US driving licence and was told he needed to change it to a Manx licence.
He subsequently passed a Manx test and was given a permit but had not sent it in to obtain his full Manx driving licence.
’The licence was immediately issued when he was told. It was a technicality that he didn’t hold a full licence.’
Sheridan was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.
