A driver whose car ended up on its side escape uninjured, the police have said.

Officers said that they took the driver of the car, which was on R plates, home and described them as having a ’VERY lucky escape’.

The police added: ’He has been taken home by Police and we will follow up with him in the next few days.

’The mountain road makes no allowances for driver error in poor conditions and people should remember that no matter how many times they travel on this road.

’The road will be clear very shortly but the poor weather remains.’
