A 46-year-old Port Erin man has been fined £650 for three driving-related offences.
Graham John Kelly, of Edremony, sent a postal admission to charges of using a mobile phone while driving, failing to wear a seat belt, and having a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
Magistrates also endorsed his licence with four penalty points.
Prosecutor James Robinson told the court that Kelly was stopped by police on April 11 at Royal Avenue in Onchan.
He was seen using his phone while driving and when stopped wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
The car was said to also be in a poor condition with the exhaust held on with rope.
The vehicle was taken to the test centre and numerous defects were found resulting in it being deemed not roadworthy.
Magistrates fined him £250 for using the phone, £300 for the dangerous vehicle, and £100 for the seat belt offence.
He must also pay £50 prosecution costs.
The fine and costs are payable in full by July 31.
