Fewer vehicles on the roads and lower speed limits have led to few crashes, the police have announced.
The unsurprising results come 10 days since the government introduced a temporary 40mph national speed limit across the island.
A statement from the police said: ’Usually at this time of year we get about one to two road traffic collisions a day reported to us.
’Since the start of the maximum 40mph limit/alongside reducing vehicles on the road, we have had two damage only collisions reported.’
However, while the police are emphasising the lowering of the speed limit, many people commenting on the constabulary’s Facebook page said that having far fewer people and cars on the roads is the largest contributing factor.
