Two women have appeared in court charged with laundering drug money.

Kelly Elaine Thompson, aged 42, of Desmesne Road, Douglas, admitted possessing heroin, possessing criminal property, namely £2,732 in cash, possessing cannabis, and obstructing police under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Jade Neale, aged 29, of St Catherine Gardens, Birkenhead, Merseyside, pleaded guilty to possessing criminal property, namely £440 in cash.

The pair was arrested at the EVF filling station in Victoria Road on August 28 at 2.10pm. Heroin was found weighing 3.2 grams with a value of between £400 and £800 while cannabis found was valued at £5.

Both women were refused bail by magistrates and have been remanded in custody.

A confiscation order for the money can only be made at the higher court so Neale was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery where she will be sentenced on a date to set. Thompson will appear in court again on September 5 and is scheduled to be committed to the higher court on October 24.
