Police officers have had their ears checked out by experts.
Audiologists Sophie Oakley and Diane Kitt from Hidden Hearing visited police headquarters to give free hearing tests to officers and staff.
Thirty of them had a free screening, with additional help offered where required, such as ear wax removal.
All who received the test were reminded of the importance of regularly inspecting their hearing, as they would do with an eye test.
Inspector Allan Thompson said: ’Looking after our team, their health and overall well-being is really important to us so we were delighted to welcome Sophie and Diane to police headquarters.
’Our officers and support staff can be exposed to environments which could impact on their hearing so we are conscious of the need for protecting them.
’The screening was offered to all employees and we encouraged everyone to take advantage of this service whether they had concerns about their hearing or not.’
Sophie added: ’It was a pleasure to visit the constabulary to provide free, no-obligation screenings, helping to arrest hearing loss. We wouldn’t think twice about having our eyesight tested every year, and it should be the same with our hearing, after all losing your hearing can be life-changing.
By visiting the constabulary we made it even easier for these busy public servants to look after their hearing.’
Hidden Hearing operates from clinics in Douglas, Ramsey and Castletown.
