A kitchen fire in Willaston this morning (Friday) was sparked by a cardboard box left on a hob.
A woman and a dog were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews from Douglas were mobilised earlier this morning by the Emergency Services Joint Control Room to a report of a kitchen fire at the property in Willaston.
On arrival, the kitchen and living room were heavily smoke logged.
One fire crew wearing breathing apparatus entered the home with a high-pressure hose reel. They made their way to the kitchen where it was discovered that a cardboard box had been left on a turned on hob.
Crews fully extinguished the fire and isolated the power. The property was then ventilated using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
One occupant was treated at the scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation. A dog was treated using a pet oxygen mask provided by the Paws for Therapy charity.
Fire crews remained in attendance for about 45 minutes.
