Two men have been fined after they abused several people during a drunken afternoon.

Kyle John Blackley (also known as McGeown), of Waverley Terrace, Douglas, and Callum Thomas Radcliffe, of North Shore Road, Ramsey, both admitted being drunk and disorderly.

Blackley, who is 21, was fined £275 while 28-year-old Radcliffe was ordered to pay £450, with both men banned from entering licensed premises, and buying or being sold alcohol for 12 months.

Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon told the court how police were called to Waverley Terrace, Douglas, on June 19 at 3.45pm.

A 54-year-old man, who was said to be in ill health, and was parking his car, reported that he had feared he was going to be attacked.

He said that as he had parked Radcliffe and Blackley had approached and swore at him saying: ’Why are you parking here?’

The pair were then said to have entered the Mace shop on Windsor Road and shouted and screamed at a cashier.

Police then received a third report, this time of a property being broken into, though no charge of that kind was laid.

After being arrested Blackley was said to have been obstructive but admitted that he had been swearing, telling people where to go.

The court heard that he is currently on remand in relation to other offences.

Defending Radcliffe, advocate Matthew Wilshaw said: ’Mr Radcliffe doesn’t dispute the facts though he has a very vague recollection of it due to alcohol.

’He is sorry for causing members of the public distress. Far too much alcohol was consumed.’

The court heard that Radcliffe was sentenced to a probation order in May for other offences and had appointments with Motiv8 and was seeing someone about anger management.

Paul Glover represented Blackley and said that his client was currently unemployed but was looking for work as a chef.

Both men were also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs and will pay the fines and costs at a rate of £20 per week.
