A Douglas man has been fined £275 for being drunk and disorderly.
Anthony Lyons, whose age was not given in court, of Spring Valley Road, admitted the offence and was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court how, on June 14 at 1.45am, police were called to Spring Valley Road after a report of a man causing a disturbance. When officers arrived they found Lyons outside unsteady on his feet, slurring his words and clearly highly intoxicated.
He was said to be argumentative and swore at police which resulted in him being arrested and spending the night in the cells.
Defence advocate Stephen Wood said: ’Mr Lyons wishes to apologise to the officers and the court. He is on medication which doesn’t mix well with alcohol. He knows that but nonetheless he did overimbibe at a friend’s leaving the island party.’
