A 33-year-old graphic designer from Douglas has been fined £520 for driving without a licence or insurance.
Attila Szilveszter, of Woodbourne Road, admitted the two offences and also had his licence endorsed with six penalty points.
He was also ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.
Two other charges, of driving without due care or attention, and failing to notify a change of ownership were withdrawn.
The court heard how on May 14 Szilveszter was involved in an accident while riding a Suzuki 125 motorbike on Groudle Old Road in Onchan.
He told police he bought the bike the day before and admitted he had no licence or insurance, and had not any motorcycle compulsary basic training (CBT) training.
Defence advocate David Reynolds said: ’It was a stupid mistake. When he lived in Hungary he had ridden bikes and felt competent. He did pass his CBT a week after the incident.’
