Teams from Castletown and Rushen fire stations responded to reports of a garage fire in Castletown this afternoon (Saturday, December 18).

At approximately 1:00pm, both stations responded with a major appliance after reports came in of the fire on Farrants Way.

On arrival, crews discovered a rapidly growing fire in a single garage. Using hosereel equipment, a breathing apparatus team were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it spreading to the adjoining garages.

Thermal imaging equipment was then used to check for further fire spread and the crews remained on scene for approximately one hour.

The fire was confirmed to be accidental.
