Fire crews from across the island fought a ’rapidly developing fire’ at a home in the north of the island.
Members of the Ramsey, Kirk Michael, Laxey and Douglas fire stations worked together to tackle the flames which had taken hold of the ground and first floors yesterday (Saturday).
Station officer David Cowley said: ’The intensity of the fire meant that crews wearing breathing apparatus had to work in very demanding conditions to bring the incident under control.
’Thankfully all persons and pets managed to evacuate the property moment’s before the flames and smoke engulfed both the ground and first floors.’
The occupants were later checked over by paramedics with all being declared injury free.
An investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
