Police were called to a fight involving men with weapons yesterday.
They were called at 5.50pm with a report of several people fighting in Marathon Road, Douglas.
The fight involved several people using weapons.
Most left in a vehicle before the police arrived but one man was arrested at the scene.
Firearms officers were called because "several weapons" were involved in the incident.
After inquiries made by those officers a further three men were subsequently arrested and detained.
One had sustained a non-life threatening injury to his face as a result of the original fight.
Police say everyone involved was were known to each other and that there was no direct threat to any members of the wider general public. None of the people involved is believed to have been in possession of any firearms during the course of these events and no one was injured during the course of the arrests which were subsequently made.
A police spokesman said that Inquiries into the circumstances of what occurred were still taking place.
