Fire crews in Laxey were called to an unattended bonfire in Axnfell forest this morning.

It was extinguished with high-pressure hose reels and beaters.

The fire service said: ‘It might look fairly benign from the photo, however, vegetation is tinder dry already, the risk of wildfire continues to increase’.

It urged people not to light bonfires, campfires or barbeques anywhere near combustible vegetation, and to be responsible in this good weather.
