This morning the fire service responded to reports of smoke coming from a house in Peel.

Shortly before 8am (November 20), two major appliances from Peel Station attended a property on Peveril Road.

On arrival crews discovered smoke coming out of the front of the house.

A breathing apparatus team entered and discovered the cause of smoke logging to be from burnt foodstuffs left on a hob.

The house’s occupant had safely evacuated prior to their arrival.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to remove the smoke from the property, and crews were in attendance for approximately 90 minutes.

The fire service reminded people: ‘Properly installed smoke alarms play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries.

‘If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you the time to get out.’
