A fire in Foxdale earlier today led to the closure of the road through the village at the junction of the main St John’s to Castletown road to the clock tower.

Firefighters were called in the early afternoon when a garage was spotted burning.

Crews from Peel and Castletown attended.

When they got there, they were faced with a large, well established fire in a detached garage.

The incident commander deployed two breathing apparatus teams using jets to extinguish the fire and protect properties/vehicles nearby

Crews worked hard to bring the fire under control and once this was achieved the fire crews remained there to dampen down any hot spots and check the area over with a Thermal Image Camera.

They stayed there for about three hours.
