Two drug dealers from Douglas have admitted advertising and selling cannabis on the social media messaging app Snapchat.

Liam Waldrum, aged 24, of Marathon Road, and Gabriella Swanmay Hay, aged 21, of Darragh Avenue, both pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis and were committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing.

Prosecuting advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court that a search warrant was executed at an address at Castlemona Avenue in Douglas on May 14 where Waldrum and Hay were living at the time.

Cannabis was found and during a police interview Waldrum admitted using it, saying he cooked with it and consumed it, but denied supplying it.

However, his mobile phone was seized and when examined police found evidence that he had been supplying cannabis bush and resin.

Evidence was found of Waldrum and Hay advertising the drug on Snapchat and an account called ’Ganja Panda’.

Hay also denied being involved but her phone was examined and also found to contain evidence of selling the drug.

Prosecutor Ms Cubbon said that there was evidence of several months of dealing so the case should be committed to the higher court.

Defence advocate Stephen Wood, representing Hay, said that the case was just on the cusp of going to the higher court and said that there was a potential basis of plea.

Mr Wood accepted that the case should be committed and also said that he would be seeking a psychiatric report before sentencing.

Ian Kermode, representing Waldrum, agreed that the case should go to the higher court.

A probation report will also be prepared before sentencing.

Both parties will appear at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on July 23.

Bail continues in the sum of £500 with a condition to contact probation.
