A 32-year-old Douglas man has appeared in court charged with assault causing grievious bodily harm with intent, and two counts of perverting the course of justice.

Andrew Yan Hong Cheung, of Belmont Terrace, will be committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery on August 23.

Bail was denied and Mr Cheung was remanded in custody.
