A Douglas man will discover his fate on Thursday after being found in possession of cannabis on three separate occasions.
Anthony Wiseman, aged 21, of Church Road Marina, Douglas, pleaded guilty to the three offences when he appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes on Tuesday.
The offences occurred at his home address on May 28, June 6 and June 29.
Prosecutor Roger Cain told the court that on May 28, at 11pm, police attended Wiseman’s address after a report from a member of the public of a strong smell of cannabis.
When police arrived and Wiseman answered the door officers said his eyes were red and he told officers: ’I’ve had a joint.’
During a search, officers found £12 worth of cannabis in his flat.
On the second occasion the police were called to his flat, officers found Wiseman with ’eyes glazed’ and a voluntary search produced £31 worth of cannabis in a grinder.
When officers attended Wiseman’s flat for a separate issue on June 29 they again could smell cannabis and found the drug in a tobacco pouch. No value was confirmed in court, however it was said to be a very small amount.
When he was cautioned by officers, Wiseman said: ’I smoke weed.’
Defence advocate David Reynolds said his client had admitted he had been smoking cannabis and noted that the police hadn’t weighed the amount found on the third occasion as it was so little.
Mr Reynolds also confirmed the cannabis was for Wiseman’s personal use.
High Bailiff Mrs Hughes adjourned sentencing until Thursday, July 2, but said she was ’not minded that the custody threshold has been passed’.
