A 21-year-old man has been fined £600 for possessing £27-worth of cannabis.
The court heard that police on patrol on that date at 7.30pm spoke to a group of males who were at the Kensington Road club grounds.
There was said to be a smell of cannabis and a search of Cowells found the drug.
When interviewed he said that it was for personal use.
Defence advocate Peter Taylor said: ’The facts are simple.
’Police found a small amount of cannabis.
’At that time Mr Cowells was having family issues and using it for anxiety. This was three months ago.
’He has since vowed to turn his life around and now has a flat and a girlfriend. ’He promised his father he wouldn’t touch cannabis again. We would ask the court to treat this as a one-off blip.’
Magistrates also ordered Cowells to pay £50 prosecution costs which he will pay, along with the fine, at a rate of £75 per month.
