A heath fire broke out in the Greeba at 6pm on Thursday.
Fire crews from Douglas, Laxey Peel, Kirk Michael, Rushen and Ramsey went to tackle it.
The large area of land affected was some distance from the main road, making it difficult to deal with.
It was extinguished by 10pm.
Due to limited water supplies in the area combined with difficulties accessing the location crews were required to manually extinguish the fire using beaters, which is a ‘very physically demanding process’, according to the fire service.
Investigations into what caused the fire are continuing.
