A 30-year-old man has been bound over to keep the peace after a play fight got him arrested.

Jake Stephen Ford, of Hillberry Heights, Douglas, had previously pleaded not guilty to a charge of provoking behaviour.

A pre-trial review was set to be held but the court heard that statements had been provided from witnesses confirming that Ford had been involved in a ’play fight’ with friends at St Thomas’s Walk in Douglas on June 20.

Defence advocate Stephen Wood said: ’Mr Ford accepts he was intoxicated and there was high jinks with a friend and from the point of view of others his behaviour might have seemed disorderly.’

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes bound Ford over to keep the peace for 12 months with a recognisance figure of £500.

The provoking behaviour charge was dismissed.
