A teenager who struck his mother by accident while he was trying to hit his brother has been fined £250.
James Eden Creer, of Y Vaarney Yiarg, Castletown, admitted an offence of provoking behaviour and was also banned from entering licensed premises, and buying or being sold alcohol for six months.
Prosecuting advocate James Robinson told a court that police were called to 18-year-old Creer’s home address on July 29 at 7pm after a report of a disturbance.
Creer’s mother said that she had tried to intervene in an altercation between her two sons and had been struck in the face as a result.

The woman said she did not wish to make a complaint but Creer was arrested.
He told police: ’My Mum shouldn’t walk in front of me and my brother when we’re having a scrap.’
When interviewed Creer said he could not recall the incident as he had been drinking beforehand.
Defence advocate Paul Glover said that his client accepted the facts and asked for credit to be given for his guilty plea.
’He informs me he was heavily intoxicated,’ said the advocate.
’He accepts he has bridges to rebuild with his mother and his brother.’
Mr Glover went on to say that Creer was currently receiving incapacity benefit.
Magistrates also ordered him to pay £125 prosecution costs, which he will pay along with the fine, at a rate of £20 per week, deducted from benefits.
