A 20-year-old man has admitted having a stun gun hidden in his bedroom.
Blayne Quinn pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited weapon and will be sentenced on June 17 after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecuting advocate Rachael Braidwood told the court that police executed a search warrant at Quinn’s home in Archallagan Terrace, Foxdale, on May 5.
During the search they found the stun gun in a false compartment in a chest of drawers.
Quinn’s mother told police she had seen it before but didn’t know what it was.
The gun was tested by police and found to be capable of discharging high voltage electricity.
When interviewed Quinn gave ’no comment’ responses to questions.
Ms Braidwood said that the case was suitable for summary court sentencing.
The court heard that Quinn has previous convictions for money laundering and supplying drugs.
Defence advocate Paul Glover asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.
Magistrates ordered a report considering all sentencing options, including custody.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions to live at his home address, contact probation, and not leave with island without court consent.
