A Castletown man has pleaded guilty to downloading indecent videos of children.

Paul James Sayle, aged 24, of Douglas Street, appeared at Douglas Courthouse on Thursday.

He admitted four offences of possessing indecent photographs of children on December 9.

Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court police had seized Sayle’s iPhone on an unconnected matter and found nine video clips in a folder called ’Files’.

One of the videos was rated as Level 5 on The COPINE Scale - the highest rating on the system which is used to categorise the severity of images of child sex abuse.

Seven of the videos were rated as Level 4 and one was rated Level 3.

Magistrates granted an adjournment so the prosecution can consider a basis of plea which was put forward by Sayle’s advocate.

Sayle will next appear in magistrates’ court on Thursday, May 31.

Bail continues.
