A joiner accused of cultivating cannabis that was alleged to have the potential value of more than £50,000 is to face trial.
Ryan John Vincent O’Connell, aged 48, offered no plea on a charge of cultivating cannabis and pleaded not guilty to a further charge of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
He also denied a charge of possessing £870, the proceeds of crime. It is alleged that, after his house in Silverburn Drive, Ballasalla, was inspected on May 4, drugs paraphernalia and a hydroponic set-up were discovered, which it is claimed had the potential to produce 2,775.6 grams of cannabis, which would have a potential value of £55,512.
In addition, Mr O’Connell was allegedly found in possession of 724.8g of cannabis, worth up to £14,496.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes adjourned the case to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, a higher court, on November 14.
Bail was continued.
