An offender has been fined £450 after admitting being drunk and disorderly and possessing £3-worth of cannabis.
Chaney Gallagher was seen by police kicking a road sign on Harris promenade in Douglas.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered the 38-year-old to pay £125 prosecution costs.
Prosecuting advocate James Robinson told the court that Gallagher was stopped by police on September 23 and searched.
Officers found £3 worth of cannabis on him.
On November 16, police were called to Harris Promenade in Douglas after a report of a group of men causing a disturbance.
When officers arrived they saw Gallagher, who lives in Fairfield Terrace, Douglas, kick a temporary road sign causing it to become bent and dislodged.
He initially made off but was quickly detained by police.
At police headquarters, when interviewed, Gallagher admitted being drunk and disorderly.
Mr Robinson said that Gallagher had a previous drug-related conviction from September last year, which was why the cannabis possession had been brought to court.
Defence advocate Kate Alexander said that the cannabis had been a ’minuscule’ amount and that her client had immediately given it to police voluntarily.
Regarding the drunk and disorderly offence, Ms Alexander said that Gallagher had been struggling to cope after some health issues.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes fined him £250 for being drunk and disorderly and £200 for the cannabis possession.
He will pay the fine and costs at a rate of £20 per week, deducted from benefits.
