A visitor has been remanded at the prison after admitting bringing drugs to the island.

Paul Graham Hewitson, aged 29, from Bootle, Merseyside, appeared at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday.

He admitted unlawfully producing the Class B drug cannabis into the Isle of Man on April 19.

He also admitted possessing the substance, with intent to supply it, on the same date.

Hewitson will be sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

There was no application for bail and he was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on May 14.

lA motorist from Laxey who’s accused of driving dangerously will stand trial at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

Joe Yeardsley, aged 21, of Bay View Terrace, appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday.

He entered not guilty pleas to six offences including dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, failing to give information, common assault and causing damage to property.

The offences were allegedly committed on February 15.

Committal proceedings will take place on June 26. Bail was granted.

lA pensioner from Maughold will stand trial after denying assault.

William James Hawley, aged 68, of Corony Bridge, entered a not guilty plea to a charge of common assault during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday.

He’s accused of assaulting a man on Parliament Street in Ramsey on March 29.

A pre-trial review will take place on June 26. Bail was granted.
