Port St Mary lifeboat was launched to come to the aid of yacht that had got into difficulty.

Belfast Coastguard alerted the lifeboat station at 3pm yesterday (Sunday) that a 35ft yacht was having engine problems three miles south-east of the port.

All-weather lifeboat Gough Ritchie 2 with its volunteer crew was launched. The yacht Nimble with a crew of one was quickly located and escorted back to port just after 4pm.

Coxswain Mike Keggen confirmed that this was a very straightforward rescue and that the crewman was fit and well on arrival.
