A Douglas man has been banned from licensed premises for six months after asking magistrates to make his ban longer.
Jacob Boruch Raby was initially sentenced to a three-month ban but asked magistrates’ chair David Christian: ’Can you make it six?’
Raby, who is 32, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and was also fined £400.
Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court that Raby was drinking at 1886 bar in Regent Street in Douglas on August 8.
He was involved in an altercation which spilled outside and police were called.
Raby was said to be drunk and he was subsequently arrested.
Defence advocate Kate Alexander said that the prosecution facts were accepted and asked for credit to be given for her client’s guilty plea.
The advocate said: ’Mr Raby would admit alcohol is a factor in this offence and previous matters.
’He accepts his work with Motiv8 has lapsed and he needs to get back to it.’
Ms Alexander said that her client wanted an alcohol ban to be imposed.
Magistrates also ordered Raby to pay £125 prosecution costs and gave him two months to pay.
They also imposed the six-month banning order which prohibits Raby from entering licensed premises and buying or being sold alcohol.
