A major fire near Andreas airfield is being investigated.

Fire crews from Kirk Michael, Ramsey and Douglas were called to reports of a vehicle on fire this afternoon (Tuesday) at a property near the airfield.

When they got there the fire had spread to three vehicles and involved a quantity of LPG cylinders.

Fire crews, working with limited water supply, managed to prevent the flames from spreading further and cool the affected cylinders.

A cordon was placed round one of the cylinders, the contents of which could not be identified.

But the cylinders were subsequently deemed safe.

The call-out came at 2.50pm and emergency services were at the scene for about three hours.
