Edward Michael Lewin, aged 40, of The Lhargan, Glen Maye, has been convicted after a trial of assault causing actual bodily harm.
He had denied the assault which was committed on a police officer on November 19 last year.
He also pleaded guilty to a charge of resisting arrest.
Lewin appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes on Tuesday.
The case was adjourned for eight weeks until October 28 while a psychiatric and probation report are prepared.
The court heard that Lewin has also denied other offences of threatening behaviour and threats to destroy property and a pre-trial review is scheduled for October 8.
Bail continues with conditions to reside at his home address, contact probation, and not leave the island without court permission.
