A Douglas man who was jailed in 2017 for having more than 900,000 child porn images has now admitted having almost 8,000 indecent images of children.
Martin Andrew Cleator, of Ballaquark, has pleaded guilty to six counts of possessing indecent images of children.
The encrypted images, found by police on his computer, are said to rate from one to five on the Copine scale used for measuring the severity of the photo or video.
Prosecutor Rebecca Cubbon submitted that the case should go to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing.
Cleator, who is 46, will be sentenced there on a date to be decided.
In May 2017, Cleator was jailed for two years after admitting possessing 908,048 indecent images of children and distributing 54 indecent child images.
He was also made the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order indefinitely, which meant that he must make any electronic device available to police for inspection and put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for seven years.
On June 12 this year, encrypted images were found by police on Cleator’s computer.
A large area of his computer, said to be between 202Gb and 900Gb, was said to have been encrypted.
The total number of indecent images of children was said to be 7,994.
Cleator was charged with four counts of possessing still images and two of possessing moving images.
Defence advocate Stephen Wood made no application for bail and Cleator was remanded in custody.
