A 20-year-old Colby man has admitted possessing £172 worth of cannabis.
Jacob William Troy Brand, of Glen Road, will be sentenced on January 7 next year after a probation report has been completed.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the court that police stopped an Audi on September 4 at 11.35pm on Quarterbridge Road.
Brand was a front seat passenger in the car and had a backpack between his legs.
He was said to have appeared nervous and a search of the backpack found a jar containing wraps of cannabis weighing a total of 8.6 grams.
When interviewed at police headquarters, Brand handed in a prepared statement admitting the cannabis was his.
The court heard that Brand is currently on licence in relation to a sentence imposed at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.
Defence advocate Louise Cooil asked for a probation report to be prepared before sentencing.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes ordered that the report consider all options, including custody.
Bail was granted in the sum of £500 with conditions that Brand contact probation, reside at his home address, and not leave the island without court permission.
