A Port Erin man has been bound over to keep the peace for 12 months.

Harry Catlow, aged 23, of Milner Park, agreed to accept the binding order and a charge of disorderly behaviour on licensed premises was subsequently withdrawn by the prosecution.

This week a court heard how, on September 10, Catlow has been at the Courthouse bar in Athol Street in Douglas.

He was asked to go outside to speak to security staff about an unrelated incident but was said to have been non-compliant, pushing staff and laughing.

Catlow was then said to have grabbed a door frame and refused to leave the premises.

Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court that it took two doormen to remove Catlow.

He was then restrained by police outside the bar and arrested.

Mr Swain said: ’There is no suggestion of any punches. He simply refused to be moved.’

Defence advocate Jim Travers told the court: ’Mr Catlow has produced two letters of apology for the door staff. He accepts his behaviour fell below the required standard and fully accepts the order being made.’

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said: ’Bearing in mind it was resisting rather than assaulting I am prepared to deal with this by way of a binding order.’

The binding order has a recognisance of £500.
