A man from Northern Ireland has appeared in court after an alleged incident at Ronaldsway Airport.

Robert Colin Maxwell, aged 53, of Claragh Road, Downpatrick, is accused of breaking glass in an override panel which gave him access to a restricted area and to board a plane after the gate was closed on Monday (March 2).

He is charged with an offence of property damage and breaching Isle of Man Airport byelaws. He appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes on Tuesday.

The case was adjourned until Tuesday at the request of advocate James Peterson who asked for time to review airport byelaws.

Mr Peterson said his client worked for a veterans’ charity in the island which involved regular visits here.

He was granted bail to an address in Onchan with a surety of £1,000 in place.
