A Douglas man has been fined £300 after admitting being drunk and disorderly.
Michael George Hall, of Anagh Coar Road, was arrested after he argued with another man outside the Co-op in Duke Street, Douglas, on June 2.
Roger Kane, prosecuting, told the court that police were called to Duke Street just before 7pm.
Hall was said to be intoxicated and arguing with a man.
He was heard swearing and shouting abuse at the man and he was said to have attempted to attack him before being arrested.
Defence advocate David Reynolds said: ’Mr Hall isn’t somebody who is regularly before the court. He tells me he had been at a bar and drunk five or six pints of lager.
’He says there was an argument with a group of other people known to him.
’He accepts if he hadn’t been drinking the incident wouldn’t have happened.’
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered Hall to pay £125 prosecution costs.
