A 52-year-old Peel man has been fined £480 for illegally parking his motorhome outside is home.

John Patrick O’Brien, of North View, admitted six offences of overnight and weekend waiting.

Prosecutor Barry Swain said: ’One has some sympathy but the law is the law.’

Mr Swain said the Leyland Road Runner motorhome measured 7.65m in length. Due to its size it breaches regulations.

Mr Swain said O’Brien had previously been fined for the same offence. He said it was ’causing slight concern in the community as other people could not park.’

Defence advocate Louise Cooil said the vehicle had been moved since the last offence.

She said: ’He was contacted by the police to move it as there was to be an event so he moved it to his home address.

’He has been unable to move it since that day and has been unable to afford for it to be fixed. He now has a friend looking at it and intends to advertise for someone to take it away.’
