A 24-year-old man has been fined £300 by magistrates after admitting an offence of threatening behaviour outside a nightclub.
Rory James O’Shea, of Belmont Hill, Douglas, was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.
A charge of being drunk and disorderly, which O’Shea had pleaded not guilty, was withdrawn.
Police found O’Shea outside the club and staff told them he had been ejected but was refusing to leave.
O’Shea said to police: ’I haven’t spoken to you. I’ve called the police and I’m not speaking to you.’
He was said to be shouting loudly and refusing to move on and was subsequently arrested.
Defence advocate Darren Taubitz told the court how O’Shea was out with two friends.
’Clearly the alcohol he consumed clouded his thought process,’ said Mr Taubitz.
’He attended the Outback, stood in the queue and a comment was made to him which upset him. He was restrained and pushed out into the street.
’He rang the police. Effectively he has made an annoyance of himself.
’He now realises what he should have done was made a written complaint the next day.’
